This state-of-the-art research and office facility is home to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Headquarters. Fentress' design minimizes the building's mass by breaking it into four connected segments. The juxtaposition between the exterior stone façade, harvested locally, and the glass curtainwall stair enclosures recalls the relationship of the sophisticated research facility to the nearby Flatirons. Office spaces line the perimeter, maximizing mountain views and natural daylight. Sustainably, the building incorporates the Federal Energy Efficiency Requirements, which cover every conceivable element, such as insulation, glass selection, lighting, heating and cooling systems.
